When you’re committed to improving your fitness, it’s tempting to think that more is always better
When you’re committed to improving your fitness, it’s tempting to think that more is always better. But the truth is, real progress happens when you recover, not just when you train. Whether your goal is fat loss, muscle building, or improved performance, rest and recovery are just as important as your workouts.
Training puts stress on the body. It breaks muscle fibres down, challenges the nervous system, and pushes your energy systems. Without proper recovery, you risk fatigue, burnout, poor performance, and even injury. This is why I always encourage my clients to take rest days seriously, they’re when your body repairs, adapts, and grows stronger.
But recovery isn’t just about taking a day off. It’s about doing the right things between sessions. Quality sleep, good nutrition, hydration, and active recovery strategies all play a role. One of the most effective tools I use in my studio is sports massage. Regular sports massage in Leeds helps release muscle tension, improve circulation, and reduce soreness, so you can bounce back quicker and train harder in your next session.
In fact, many of my personal training clients in Leeds include sports massage as part of their weekly or monthly routine. It’s not a luxury; it’s part of a smart, results-driven training plan.
If you’re training consistently but not seeing the results you expect, take a look at your recovery. It could be the missing piece.
Not sure if massage is right for you? Here’s why it’s not just for athletes.
